An Australian e-commerce electronics seller wanted to source power banks, multi-port USB charging blocks, and wireless charger mounts from Shenzhen, China. They needed a partner to manage manufacturing quality, verify mandatory Australian electrical safety certifications, and coordinate dangerous goods sea freight regulations.

Supply Chain & Technical Challenges

Importing electrical products and lithium batteries into Australia requires strict regulatory compliance. The main challenges included:

• RCM Registrations: Ensuring wall chargers are registered on the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS) database and carry the RCM compliance mark.
• Lithium Battery Shipping: Power banks are classified as Class 9 Dangerous Goods (UN3480), requiring strict packing and documentation compliance.
• Battery Capacity Verification: Preventing factories from using lower-grade battery cells that do not match the declared mAh capacities.

Factory Selection & Quality Inspection

We selected audited manufacturers in Shenzhen and Dongguan. Our quality team managed the testing and compliance process:

• Electrical Safety Checks: Verifying that all chargers hold valid safety test reports (AS/NZS standards) before applying the RCM mark.
• Battery Capacity Tests: Testing battery samples to verify capacity, charge-discharge cycles, and thermal safety cut-offs.
• Dangerous Goods Compliance: Organizing mandatory UN38.3 test reports and preparing dangerous goods declarations for sea freight shipping.

Shipping Consolidation & Outcomes

The cargo was packed in insulated boxes and shipped as Class 9 Dangerous Goods, clearing customs at Port Botany with zero compliance issues. Sourced items arrived under ChAFTA concessions (0% tariff), reducing unit procurement costs by 24.3% and establishing a compliant, scaleable supply chain.
